Factors Associated with Malignant Breast Tumors Among Women Diagnosed with Breast Tumors at Campur Darat Hospital, Tulungagung

Background : The development of breast tumors was a multifactorial interaction, including menstrual history and body mass index (BMI). Menstrual history was related to estrogen exposure, while excess BMI was associated with increased circulating pro-inflammatory agents. This study aimed to determine the risk factors for breast tumors in female patients, specifically the influence of menstrual history and BMI at Campur Darat Hospital in Tulungagung.
Methods: This is a descriptive analytical study with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected from electronic medical records from March 2023 to October 2025 for all female patients with breast tumors, then processed using SPSS version 27.0 software. Chi-square test, and binary logistic regression analysis was used to identify significant factors affecting tumor type.
Results and Discussion: The logistic regression analysis showed that menopausal status was significantly associated with the incidence of breast tumors. Postmenopausal respondents had a 10.9 times greater risk than premenopausal respondents (OR=10.954; p<0.001). Patients with obese BMI were 4.14 times more likely to develop breast tumors than patients with normal BMI (OR=4.14; p<0.001).
Conclusion : Menopausal status and BMI are associated with breast tumorincidence.
