About the Journal

Jurnal Bedah PABI – The Indonesian Journal of Surgery is a national scientific journal managed by the Indonesian General Surgeons Society (Perhimpunan Ahli Bedah Indonesia – PABI). Guided by the motto Disce Alte, Dona Libere (“Learn deeply, share freely”), the journal is published biannually in two issues: January–June and July–December.

This peer-reviewed, open-access journal is dedicated to advancing surgical science through the publication of high-quality, ethical, and evidence-based research. It provides a platform for surgeons and clinician-scientists to disseminate scientifically rigorous knowledge that is freely accessible for the benefit of patients, healthcare professionals, and society.

The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, case reports and case series, as well as other scholarly works across all surgical disciplines, including clinical practice, surgical education, technical notes, innovation, and patient safety. All manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process and adhere to international standards of publication ethics, including the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Guided by its motto, the journal aims to promote lifelong learning, academic integrity, and the open dissemination of surgical knowledge. Through this journal, PABI seeks to strengthen the culture of research and publication among Indonesian surgeons and to enhance the national and international visibility of scientific contributions in the field of general surgery.
